The two aren't compatible... unless you use pktmux... but I don't support that
mode of operation.

Winvn is not only a good news reader, it works very well for those on slow
dialup IP links.  It makes the updating of the full news group list
optional and
gives quick random access to articles in the selected group.  It is
available from titan.ksc.nasa.gov.  I tried trumpet a while back and found
it to be much
slower (does anyone know any tricks for tuneing it to a slow line?).

What do I need to get hold of to start writing winsock programs.  Is there an
SDK from Microsoft or someone ?  If so how much does it cost.  Does either
MFC2.0 or OWL have a winsock class yet.

I had a similar problem.  Make sure that novasync.exe in in your windows system
directory along with the two

Anonymous FTP from ds.internic.net. It has all the RFCs, Internet drafts,
working group documents, and everything else on-line.

I run Trumpet News Reader over 14.4 Kbps line (which is SLOW) and it runs
quite nicely. My host has just under 4,000 newsgroups and it comes up in a
couple of seconds. I only subscribe to about 50 groups. I've read that it
slows down with large number of groups or a lot of unread articles.

If you mean slow as in less than 14.4 Kbps ... well ... I wouldn't recommend
running SLIP at any speed less than 14.4 Kbps.

Get elm for DOS first...then run its setup, which will set up the
directory you will need for winelm...I don't know why they do this, but
that's the way it is...

Has anyone used the TCP/IP product they offer ? I would like to use it to
connect to my NTAS machine at work to my Windows workstation as a remote
